  • Youths ages 14-21 years old receive assistance with no qualifying income limits to participate.​

GED TEST ADMINISTRATION

High Desert New Beginnings, Inc. now administers the on-line General Educational Development (GED) examination in Barstow, California in both English and Spanish, to persons meeting the requirements stated below.  Testing is being provided at Entrepreneur Resource Center, 1041 West Main Street, Barstow, CA 92311.

General Instructions
  • To take the exam, you must first go on-line to GED.com and create an account.  There, scheduling and payment are done on-line in advance of your test date(s).  Google Map directions and distance to our test site are found by choosing "Locate a test center," entering your postal zip code, and clicking on "Get Directions" to High Desert New Beginnings (NOT ENTREPRENEUR RESOURCE CENTER).
  • SCHEDULING CANNOT BE DONE AT THE TEST SITE, AND THERE ARE NO WALK-INS.  
  •  On the GED.com home page, open the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) tab and refer to the "Taking the Test" section for specific information on what you can and cannot take with you into the testing room.  Limited secured storage will be provided at the test site in the check-in area on your scheduled test date(s).

Requirements for the Test
  • Anyone within 6 months of their 18th birthday or older is eligible.
  • A non-expired, government-issued photo ID MUST be presented by a test taker on the day of the test.
Test Fees
  • The fee for taking the complete four-subject area test in California is $140.
  • The complete test includes Reasoning Through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Science, and Social Studies.
  • The fee for taking any individual subject area test(s) is $35 per subject area.

  • Assistance with job search and continuing education efforts is available upon request for persons obtaining a GED credential through our test center.
